Wine Cooler Repair

Dual-zone wine storage that has stopped holding its zones apart, sweats on the glass, runs loud, or has lost its lighting and control response.

What people call us about

If one of these is close to what your unit is doing, we have seen it this month on the island.

  • 01 Upper and lower zones drifting three or four degrees away from their set points
  • 02 Condensation forming on the inside of the glass door and on the top shelf bottles
  • 03 Interior lighting flickering, or staying lit with the door closed
  • 04 Noticeably louder hum than it used to make, with the top shelf running warm

How the visit runs

  1. Before we arrive

Model and serial number, what the unit is doing, and how long it has been doing it. Half the diagnosis is usually done from that alone, and it decides what goes on the van.

  2. On the doorstep

Floor covered, panels off before anything moves. Nothing is pulled out of cabinetry until the surround has been checked and protected.

  3. The service call

Cabinet and evaporator temperatures logged, defrost circuit and controls tested, sealed system read under gauges where the symptom calls for it. The flat $89 covers all of it.

  4. The number, then the work

A firm price for parts and labor before anything is opened or ordered. If it is not worth repairing you get told that, and you are not charged for the opinion.

  5. Before we leave

The cabinet is run back down to its set point and the readings are shown to you. Panels and reveals reset to where they started.

What the island says

  • Interior lights flickering, and sometimes staying lit with the door shut. A harness chafed at the hinge, pinched during an old cabinet job, plus a tired switch. Both fixed, no flicker since.

    Vikram J. · First Hill · Nov 2025

  • Ours had turned loud — a hum you could hear from the next room — and the upper zone ran warm. Condenser packed with remodel dust, mounts perished. He did what he could, then finished when the parts landed.

    Cass & Ellery H. · First Hill · May 2026

  • The glass wore a permanent film of condensation and the top shelf ran warmer than the rest. Its seal had gone hard along the latch side. New seal, door realigned, and the shelves read even.
